Milan - when to visit

Italy has a predominantly Mediterranean climate making Milan quite comfortable to visit pretty much all year round. Although Milan’s winters (December-February) can see temperatures below freezing, the mountains shield the city from the worst of the Northern European winter.

In the month of August the city experiences calm when the Milanese head for the nearby hills and lakes, to escape the worst of the Mediterranean heat when temperatures can soar above 30°C/86°F.
